Drew E. Maris, MD, Strategic Advisor (San Rafael, CA, USA)
Doctor Maris is a family physician in private practice in Marin county, California. Dr. Maris received his undergraduate education from San Francisco State University and his medical education from the University of California, Irvine. He completed his family practice residency from Mercy Methodist Hospital in Sacramento in 2003. He has been in practice for over 20 years as a family physician. Additionally, Doctor Maris was board-certified in hospice and palliative care medicine, and was Director of a regional hospice for 10 years. Doctor Maris is also a certified Hakomi psychotherapist and instructor. He studied directly under Ron Kurtz, founder of the Hakomi method. Doctor Maris's underlying passion is in the integration of orphaned wisdom in the manner of who we are as a people, how we have come to understand ourselves as we are, the grief in how we have been orphaned and what is the assignment that is at our feet to learn our past and change our children's future. Our death phobic society denies obligation to our past and our future. As a physician blessed to have been present at the beginnings of life, its middles and endings and transformations, Doctor Maris brings an ancient wisdom of presence and prescience to the World Community Network.
